It's a Boy!

And omg am I terrified. First and foremost how do I change a diaper?!? I dont want to hurt him. And then of course how do I raise him to be a  strong yet sweet young man? How do I interact with him if I'm not painting his nails or coming his hair in pretty pigtails? Everyone says that boys are usually mommas boys, but Lucia is already a mommas girl! How is there space for two?! Lucia is so sweet and attentive and smart. What if he's rambunctious and wild and loud? How do I cope? Or am I falling into the stereotypes that I've so strongly tried to ignore? I know there are sweet gentle boys out there. I hope baby boy is one if them. Rafa of course is totally unphased by a girl or boy but for some reason I feel like I'll be totally lost when it comes to raising a boy. I hope I pull myself together in 6 months! And baby boy, I already love you, I just want you to become so much in life and I want to make sure I help get you there. I want that for both my babies no matter what. Now off to buy "raising boy" books! ;-)

Big Girl Bed

So we made the switch this weekend in order to give Lu time to settle in time for baby boy. We decided to keep the queen so that when guests stay then can still use that bed and we don't need to buy any furniture for her or baby. Lucia fell asleep two nights in a row with no problem. She even put her books away on night one and crawled back into bed. So independent!  She has been loving the big bed and having us relax in there with her.  Its like a little adventure for her. Not only with the bed, but we are on night 7 of night potty training. We've had one success night, 3 unsuccessful nights, but then 3 nights successful recently. Hopefully we keep the momentum. It's a lot for my princess but if anyone can transition smoothly it's Lucia. She always takes everything in stride.

Undies Kind of Day

Sorry if this TMI but its just too cute not to document. :-) Rafa and Lucia giving Bella a bath on a very hot day!

6.19.13 Baby Figueira #2

Well I survived a trip to NYC and a trip to Owasso all while in my first trimester. I am my own hero! Ive been extremely exhausted, with light headeddness, and bouts of nausea. Nothing terrible but enough to certainly slow me down. Updates: Last week we had an ultrasound and baby was measuring 9w3d. Heartbeat was 175. Everything was perfect! I went it today for an appt with my OBGYN and saw the baby again just moving around its little limbs, it was so stinkin cute. Heartbeat was 177 and now I'm 10w5d (roughly). And get this. I had blood work done for this new testing that can determine the sex by 10w. Can you imagine? I should get those results in a week!

Lucia's Corner: I asked her if she wanted a baby brother or a baby sister. She said a baby brother like her friend Josh from school. Awwww!

6.6.13 1st Trimester Symptoms Here We GO!

So I am definitely full swing into this pregnancy, I can tell by the headaches, the nausea, food aversions, and the EXHAUSTION.  Yesterday, nothing I could eat would taste good and by the time I got home, I headed straight for the couch.  I actually ordered lunch at the cafe, lasagna and salad, took two bites and then tossed it.  It is that bad.   I am feeling exactly the same as I did with Lucia, no better no worse.  But one things for sure, I will be thankful once we hit the 2nd trimester and I can start to feel better again. Today I should be about 8w5d, but we will know more on Monday once we have our first ultrasound.  Eeeeeek!

PS.  I told Lucia that there was a baby growing on mommas belly, and she laid down next to me pulled up my shirt and tried to look into my belly button to see the baby.  SUPER cute.
