Lucia Stands!

This evening I was getting things ready for tomorrow and Lucia was really energetic and playful, so I decided to take some video of her. And while I was shooting, she stood up for the first time! Really fun! Lucia isn't crawling yet, but maybe she has more important skills to show off :-) Check out YouTube video!

Halloween!

Last night, Rafa, Lucia and I went to the Deziels where we had some yummy chili and let the kids hang out. They all looked so cute! We took Lucia to a couple of houses before we called it a night. Next year, she should be running all around :-)

I Did It.

So after 4 months of training, I ran my first race ever, the half marathon,  in 2:22.  While the race itself was a big accomplishment, and a lot of fun, I am more proud of the fact that I got back into running just as Lucia was turning 8 weeks old and still not sleeping through the night.  In those beginning days, my legs felt like they were running through quick sand and my body felt like it was going to fall apart right there on the side of the road.  But just 4 months later and I felt strong and healthy and at the finish like I felt like I could keep going.  Ok, maybe not that good :)  During all of my runs, especially the long ones, I always imagined Lucia waiting for me at the finish line. While the little rascal slept in that morning (of course she did!) she and Rafa showed up a bit after I was done.  It was so great to see my family. Lucia is getting my medal for her keepsake box, because I really believe that she was my motivation and the main reason I kept running and running.

Now, let's hope she keeps motivating me, for momma will be running the Eugene Full on 4/29/12, yikes!

6 Months, One Word: Joy

Sweet Lucia Kate turned 6 months this past weekend, and can any of us really believe that she is half of a year young already?  I certainly cannot.

I could go and on about how much she is doing, seeing, eating, playing.  But really, all I want to say is that this little person brings us so much joy and happiness.  Some days we look at her and cannot believe how great this feels being her parents.  And not a minute goes by where we are not thankful for her.

Pumpkin Patch

Today we went out to Sauvie Island for Lucia's first pumpkin patch event!  We saw the farm animals, went on a hay ride, bought treats, and picked out a huge pumpkin (there is a plan for that later!).  It turned out to be a beautiful and warm fall day.  These are the times I love most about having a family, creating traditions ; )
